UAH Powers Its Way to Victory Over West Florida

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball team out-slugged West Florida in the opening game of a three-game Gulf South Conference series on Friday evening by a final score of 10-9. UAH improved to 10-11 (3-4 GSC), while the Argonauts fell to 11-6 (3-4 GSC).

The Chargers earned the victory with a combination of high-powered bats and a total of six hit-by-pitches, including a walk-off hit-by-pitch by Carson Villalta to vault themselves to the 10-9 win.

The UAH offense racked up 10 hits for the game, including round-trippers from Landon Ezzell and Villalta. The home runs marked the fifth for Ezzell and Villalta's first of the year.

Garrett Bodine and Villalta both recorded two hit-by-pitches to lead the team. Villalta also led the Chargers in RBI for the game, driving home four. Ezzell and Jackson Lindsey each drove in a pair of RBI, while Hunter Tillman also drove in one.

Justin Perreault recorded his first win of the season as he pitched 1.1 innings, struck out two, and recorded two strikeouts.
