Bracken Deals Second No-Hitter in Freshman Season to Cap Doubleheader Sweep at Shorter

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ROME, Ga. | The No. 8 University of Alabama in Huntsville softball team swept Shorter in a Gulf South Conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon by scores of 10-2 and 8-0 in road action. UAH improves to 21-4 (10-1 GSC), while SU slides to 4-25 (1-13 GSC).

The Chargers posted multiple runs in three of the seven innings of Saturday's opening game including three-run rallies twice to lead UAH to the 10-2 win to start the doubleheader.
 
Gracie Green highlighted the Chargers offense with a 3-for-4 performance with two runs and a team-best four RBI, as she notched a two-run homer in the second and a two-RBI single in the fourth.
 
Jada Henderson also had a pair of extra-base hits for UAH, going 3-for-3 with a home run, a double, three runs and three RBI.
 
Megan Shurtz went the distance in the circle to improve to 6-1 in 2023, after hurling 7.0 innings with two runs allowed and seven strikeouts.
 
UAH 8, SU 0 (Five innings)
Freshman Katie Bracken stymied the Hawks offense over five innings with her second no-hitter of the season with a 5.0-inning performance with seven strikeouts. Bracken additionally only had one base runner against her, surrendering one walk across her 5.0 shutout innings.
 
UAH registered 13 base hits as a team, as Lawren Hayes, Kinley Adams, Jada Henderson and Gracie Green each recorded two base knocks apiece. Adams and Henderson additionally tied for the team lead with two RBI in the shutout win.
