BIRMINGHAM | The University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball team won a thrilling midweek ten inning game at Hoover Met in Birmingham on Tuesday against West Alabama. UAH improved to 15-13 overall on the year, while West Alabama fell to 13-13.
The Chargers were opportunistic on the base paths in the game as they stole three bags for the day and drew seven walks, including four from
Garrett Bodine. The lead changed hands four times before a two-RBI triple from
Daniel McCary in the top of the 10th inning put UAH ahead for good.Â
At the plate, seven Chargers recorded at least one base hit, while
Jackson Lindsey was the lone player to record multiple base hits. The Russellville, Alabama native was also the only UAH player to score twice.Â
On the mound, nine Chargers made appearances as
Landon Singley started the game and pitched three scoreless innings, gave up four hits and struck out four.
Carson Herring,
Jack Newman, and
Justin Perreault each pitched two-thirds of an inning in relief and
Cole Loftis was the final pitcher to appear. Loftis went three innings earning the win and gave up zero hits.
UAH returns to Charger Park on Friday to begin a three-game series against West Georgia. Friday's game is set to begin at 4 p.m.
