BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Gulf South Conference announced its weekly women's outdoor track & field awards, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville was represented by Ijah Drake as GSC Freshman of the Week for her performances at the Lee Invitaitonal.
 
This is the third time in 2023 Drake has been named GSC Freshman of the Week and the first time in the outdoor campaign.
 
A native of Huntsville, Alabama, Drake finished first overall in the 200-meter dash and also recorded an NCAA provisional time with a clocking of 24.06 in the event. Drake additionally finished second in 100 meters at 11.90 and third in 100-meter hurdles at 14.51.
 
Moreover, Drake was a member of UAH's 4x100 meters relay team that also finished first with an NCAA provisional time of 46.12.
 
UAH looks ahead to the Flames Invitational next week in Cleveland, Tennessee.
