No. 4 UAH Welcomes AUM for Final Regular Season Series

HUNTSVILLE | The No. 4 University of Alabama in Huntsville softball team wraps up the 2023 regular season at Charger Park with a three-game series against Auburn Montgomery, beginning with a single game Friday at 5 p.m. followed by a doubleheader Saturday at noon.

Admission to this weekend's games – and every regular season home game – is free again this season courtesy of Alabama Credit Union.

UAH will celebrate its 2023 seniors prior to Friday evening's contest, which will include Gracie Green, Heather Phillips, Maddie Tankersley and Lila Young.
 
The Chargers have already locked up the 2023 GSC Regular Season Championship and will be the No. 1 seed in the upcoming GSC tournament from May 3-6 at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Alabama. More information regarding the 2023 GSC Softball Championships.
 
UAH enters the final weekend of the regular season with a 39-7 overall record and a 24-2 mark in GSC games, after wrapping up regular season road action with a three-game sweep at Union last weekend. The Chargers were recognized as the No. 4 team nationally in the NFCA Top 25 this week, while also garnering a third-place ranking in the NCAA South Region on Wednesday.
 
Sophomore Lawren Hayes has been the Chargers offensive leader in the 2023 campaign, as she boasts a team-high 97 total bases and .618 slugging percentage while boasting a .420 batting average. In her sophomore campaign, Hayes has also notched 51 runs, 13 doubles, six triples, two homers and 20 RBI out of the lead-off spot while committing just two errors in 145 fielding chances.
 
UAH's pitching staff is bolstered by Katie Bracken with a league-low 1.53 ERA over a team-high 105.1 innings pitched along with Megan Shurtz who owns a 2.93 ERA over 90.2 innings. Overall, the Chargers have a 2.78 team ERA, which rates first in the GSC.
 
Auburn Montgomery opens up the weekend series with a 31-14 overall record and a 20-6 mark in GSC play, after most recently sweeping nationally-ranked Valdosta State at home last weekend. The Warhawks offense featured seven lineup regulars batting .320 or higher, while the AUM pitching staff has a 2.97 team ERA.
 
UAH is 10-8 all-time against Auburn Montgomery.
