Volleyball Drops Two at Final Day of Ray Thrasher Classic

NASHVILLE | The UAH volleyball team concluded their weekend at the Ray Thrasher Classic hosted by Trevecca Nazarene on Saturday with a 3-0 loss to UMSL before being narrowly defeated by Lynn in a hard-fought fifth set 3-2. 

The Chargers fell to 1-3 on the season with Saturday's results, while UMSL improved to 4-0 and Lynn sits at 2-2.
 
UAH returns to the court when they host the UAH Invitational presented by the Huntsville Sports Commission next weekend beginning on Friday at 4:45 pm against Anderson. 
 
UMSL 3, UAH 0 (25-16, 25-23, 25-22)
Three Chargers recorded five or more kills for the match, led by Zoe Smith with seven kills. 

Autumn Mayes tallied six kills while Kiara Hill contributed five for second and third on the team in the category. 

Tatiana Bonilla led the way in digs for the morning match, with 12 receptions going her way.  
 
Lynn 3, UAH 2 (23-25, 25-18, 23-25, 25-19, 15-17)
A back-and-forth affair in the final match of the weekend saw the Chargers fall in a close match to Lynn after holding a lead late into the fifth set. 

UAH led 13-8 before Lynn went on to score nine of the final 11 points of the match to escape with a 17-15 win. 

Five different Chargers swatted 10 or more kills in the matchup with the Knights for a .241 attack percentage for the match. 

Freshman Mary Grace Bundrant led the way in attack percentage for UAH at .409 on 11 kills. The Cookeville, Tenn., native also led the team in blocks with four solos and four assists.

Mayes contributed 15 kills to the cause, while also leading the team in digs with 17 for the match.
