BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The UAH softball team was voted first in the 2024 Gulf South Conference Preseason Coaches' poll as well as garnering three Preseason All-GSC honorees.

The Chargers received a total of 11 first-place votes and 143 points to lead the balloting for the first time since 2021, followed by Mississippi College in second with two first-place nods and 123 points.

West Alabama and Auburn Montgomery came out in third and fourth, respectively, followed by Valdosta State in fifth, West Florida in sixth, Union in seventh and Montevallo in eighth.

UAH is coming off the program's ninth Gulf South Conference Championship in 2023, as head coach
Les Stuedeman returns three First Team All-GSC performers in
Kinley Adams,
Katie Bracken and
Lawren Hayes.

Adams, Bracken and Hayes were each selected to the 2024 Preseason All-GSC Team as well.

Additionally, the GSC announced its Newcomers Watch List that features UAH freshman
Kylee Smith who hails from Wetumpka, Alabama.

No. 12 ranked UAH opens the 2024 campaign next weekend with a trip to the Sunshine State to take on Florida Southern, No. 10 Tampa and Eckerd next Friday through Sunday.
