HUNTSVILLE | The UAH volleyball team won their fifth straight home match with a 3-1 (25-15, 25-15, 23-25, 25-14) victory over Montevallo on Friday night in a Gulf South Conference matchup in Spragins Hall.
The Chargers improved to 24-5 (15-4 GSC) with the win and clinched the second seed in the 2024 GSC Volleyball Championship, while Montevallo fell to 11-19 (8-12 GSC).
UAH outpaced the Falcons with a 68-40 total point differential across the four sets as the Chargers had a .205 hitting percentage as they held Montevallo to a negative percentage (-.019).
Caroline Moyer and
Autumn Mayes paced the Blue & White in kills, as each amassed 12 in the match. Mayes also tallied 10 digs, which was good for second on the team in the category.
Savannah Rutledge dished out 30 assists in the win, which is the third time she has totaled over 30 assists in a match this season.
Tatiana Bonilla led the team in both aces with four and digs with 12, while
Kayla Ward swatted away four Falcon attacks to lead the team in blocks.
Next up is a matchup with Auburn Montgomery tomorrow at 2 pm. Tomorrow's match also represents Senior Day for the Chargers as their 2024 seniors play their final match in Spragins Hall.
