Volleyball Sweeps No. 3 Seed Mississippi College to Advance to GSC Championship Match

PENSACOLA, Fla. | The UAH volleyball team swept a Gulf South Conference Volleyball Championship semifinal match on Saturday evening as they took down No. 3 seeded Mississippi College 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-18) in Pensacola, Fla. on the campus of West Florida.

With the win, the No. 2 seed Chargers advanced to the GSC Volleyball Championship Final for the second straight season and will face off with No. 1 seed and host West Florida. The win over the Choctaws avenged a 3-1 road loss in the most recent matchup for the Chargers against MC.

Autumn Mayes and Caroline Moyer each recorded double-digit kills in Saturday evening's match, with Mayes at 11 kills and Moyer with 10. Savannah Rutledge had 20 assists to aid the UAH offense, while Ashleigh Murr added 17 assists to the Charger cause.

Tatiana Bonilla anchored the UAH defense with 19 digs to lead the team in the category, while Hailey Holshouser totaled 10. Mary Grace Bundrant led the defense at the net with two solo blocks and three block assists for a Charger defense that racked up eight blocks in the semifinal match.

Tomorrow's championship rematch from last season against the Argos will begin at 1 pm.
