NASHVILLE | The No. 19 UAH men's basketball team won their first Gulf South Conference game of the 2024-25 campaign against Trevecca Nazarene in their first ever matchup as conference opponents 88-83 on Wednesday afternoon.
The Chargers improved to 5-1 (1-0 GSC) with the victory, while the Trojans are now 5-2 (0-1 GSC). UAH has started 1-0 in GSC play for five of the last six seasons and three straight seasons.Â
UAH and Trevecca traded leads in the first half and the Trojans held a 37-29 lead with just under three minutes remaining in the first before an 8-2 run by the Chargers cut the lead to 39-37 going into the half. The Chargers came out blazing in the second half, immediately going on a 17-5 run to take a 10 point lead.Â
Blake Campbell led the Charger offense as he poured in 25 points with five rebounds and five assists. The reigning GSC Player of the Week
Tommy Murr had an efficient 21 points on 8-13 from the field while shooting 4-5 from behind the arc. The senior also posted five rebounds and five assists.Â
Daniel Saylor denied one Trojan shot as the big man has had at least one block in each of his past 12 games. Saylor went 6-8 from the field with 13 points and 11 boards for his third double-double of the season.
The Chargers are back at home on Monday for their final non-conference game of the regular season when they host Blue Mountain.Â
