HUNTSVILLE | The No. 14 UAH men's basketball team won their first home Gulf South Conference matchup of the season against Valdosta State on Saturday evening with a 108-87 victory in Spragins Hall.
UAH improved to 7-1 (2-0 GSC) with the win, while the Blazers dropped to 6-2 (1-1 GSC). The Chargers are winners of seven straight with all but one of their victories being by a double digit margin.
The Blue & White led for nearly 37 minutes of Saturday's game, falling behind just once early in the first half. The Chargers were lights out during the first half as they shot 69 percent from the field with a 57.1 percent from behind the arc, ending the game at 48.3 percent overall from three.
All five of the UAH starters had eight or more points in the game, while six different Chargers recorded double-digit points.
Tommy Murr led the way in points with 24 on 8-10 shooting, 3-3 from three, and 5-5 from the free throw line.
Blake Campbell had his fourth 20-5-5 performance of the season as the graduate transfer scored 20 with five rebounds and five assists.
Daniel Saylor eclipsed the 100 career blocks mark on Saturday as the GSC's leader in blocks tallied three more denials against the Blazers while contributing 16 points.
Luke Burnett scored 19 with a 5-12 performance from three. He has made four or more threes in five games this season.
The Chargers outpaced the Blazers in blocks seven to two and on fastbreak points 17-to-6.
UAH is back in action on Monday evening when they host another GSC foe, West Florida at 7:30 PM.
