HUNTSVILLE | The No. 14 UAH men's basketball team won their eighth consecutive game on Monday night with a 96-63 victory over West Florida in Spragins Hall. UAH improved to 8-1 (3-0 GSC) with the win, while the Argos dropped to 1-7 (0-2 GSC).
The Blue & White led wire-to-wire in Monday night's game, but a slow start shooting from behind the arc had the Chargers with a nine point lead heading into the half, making just 33.33 percent of their three attempts in the first half. UAH exploded in the second half from three point land, knocking down 12-of-17 attempts for a 70.59 percent clip.
Luke Burnett was raining in threes as he knocked down 7-of-13 from three and 10-for-17 overall as he poured in 27 points for UAH.
Daniel Saylor and
Tommy Murr each had 12 points apiece in the victory.
Saylor continued his defensive dominance, grabbing nine defensive boards, with 12 total rebounds and five blocks to match his career high in the category for the second time this season.
Four different Chargers recorded four assists, with Murr, Burnett,
Blake Campbell, and
Matt Thurman each dishing out four assists. UAH outrebounded the Argos 43-to-35 and dominated in assists, totaling 22 to West Florida's seven.
UAH hits the road this weekend for a matchup with Lee on Saturday afternoon.
