HUNTSVILLE | The UAH baseball team won a midweek matchup against Miles on Wednesday afternoon in a 6-4 victory over the Golden Bears. The Chargers improved to 6-2 with the win while Miles fell to 1-7 on the year.
The Chargers used early offense to claim the lead in the first inning over Miles with a two-run homer that
Jackson Lindsey belted over the right field fence. UAH would go on to add three runs in the fourth inning on a
Caleb Mahan two-RBI single up the middle and wild pitch that scored
Jayce Upton.
The final run of the game was driven in by
Will Noles on a single to left field that drove in
Carson Villalta in the seventh inning.
Six Chargers took the mound in Wednesday's action with
Will Tarpley getting the nod for the start. Tarpley went 4.1 innings with two earned runs and three strikeouts.
Payton Lemons earned the win with his 0.2 innings pitched in relief of Tarpley as he gave up one hit and struck out one.
Logan Mooney and
Tanner Giles contributed hitless appearances on the hill and
Cory Hagood earned his third save early in the season. Hagood has not allowed a hit in his 4.1 innings of work as a closing pitcher this season.
The Chargers head to Clinton, Mississippi, on Friday as they will take on Mississippi College and kick off Gulf South Conference play at 5 p.m.
