MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The UAH baseball team won a midweek non-conference matchup with fellow Gulf South Conference member Auburn Montgomery on Wednesday afternoon 10-5. The Chargers are now 8-4 (1-2 GSC) while the Warhawks are 6-6 (2-1 GSC).
UAH fell behind 1-0 in the second inning of the game and did not get on the board till the fourth inning which would begin a four-inning stretch of scoring innings. AUM had a strong eighth inning, scoring four runs, but the Chargers answered right back with four runs of their own to secure the victory.
At the plate, the Chargers had a stellar day with 11 players recording hits in the game, while
Caleb Mahan and
Ian Reagan were the only players to record multiple hits. Mahan had two RBI, while Reagan had three RBI in the matchup.
UAH recorded two double plays in the game and stranded nine AUM runners on the basepaths.
On the mound,
Will Tarpley got the start and his first win of the season as he went 5.1 innings with five strikeouts giving up six hits and just one earned run.
Cason Henry,
Connor Edwards, and
Tanner Giles appeared in relief and held the Warhawks in check, while
Cory Hagood came on in the bottom of the eighth for a four-out save.
With the save, Hagood has now tallied five for the season and has not surrendered a hit in the 2024 campaign.
The Chargers look ahead to a weekend series with non-conference opponent Truman State beginning with a doubleheader at noon on Saturday.
