Baseball Sweeps as Royer Picks Up 400th Career Victory

HUNTSVILLE | The UAH baseball team won the final game of a three-game series 14-4 as head coach Hunter Royer captured his 400th career victory on Sunday afternoon as the Chargers secured a sweep over visiting Truman State. UAH improved to 11-4 while the Bulldogs fell to 1-9 on the year.

Since taking over the reins of the UAH baseball program in 2010, Royer has amassed a career record of 400-262-2. He is the 11th coach in Gulf South Conference history to amass 400 wins in his career.

In the win, 10 different Chargers recorded hits, while five had multi-hit games. Merik Carter highlighted the UAH offense as he knocked a grand slam in a nine-run fourth inning as he totaled four hits in the afternoon as he hit for the cycle.

Daniel McCary and Brock Butler notched three hits apiece, while Ian Reagan and Jackson Lindsey had a pair each.

On the mound, Logan Mooney recorded his first win of the season facing two batters in relief of starter Cole Loftis. Loftis struck out five and gave up just two earned runs in 3.2 innings of work.

Relievers Cason Henry, Justin Perreault, John Emerson, and Collin Hollingsworth each made appearances without surrendering a run in Sunday's action.

The Chargers will face off with Tuskegee on Tuesday before traveling to Pensacola, Florida, next weekend to take on GSC foe West Florida.
