HUNTSVILLE | The UAH baseball team dropped a non-conference midweek game against Auburn Montgomery on Tuesday afternoon in a high-scoring affair 15-13. The Chargers fell to 15-12 on the year while the Warhawks improved to 15-14.
UAH and AUM combined for 29 hits in the game, with the Chargers notching 17. The teams exchanged blows early on with four lead changes in the first five innings, but the Warhawks took the lead for the final time in the top of the fifth.
The Blue & White trailed 14-7 into the bottom of the eighth, at which point six consecutive pinch hitters made appearances at the plate and accounted for five UAH runs.
Presley Walker hit his first career homer with the Chargers in a pinch hit at-bat in the eighth. Eleven UAH batters had hits, with
Merik Carter leading the way with three.
Carson Villalta,
Joey Caruso,
Brock Butler, and
Ramie Harrison each tallied two hits.
Carter was a triple short of the cycle as he recorded a double and a home run to go along with a base hit.
Logan Mooney was saddled with the loss on the mound despite giving up no earned runs.
The Chargers are back in action at home on Friday and Saturday when they play host to Montevallo for a three-game Gulf South Conference series.
