Softball Welcomes Miles and Montevallo to Jam-Packed Week at Charger Park

HUNTSVILLE | The UAH softball team returns to Charger Park with five games this week with a doubleheader against Miles on Wednesday followed by a three-game Gulf South Conference series against Montevallo on Friday and Saturday.
 
The nonconference doubleheader with Miles starts at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Montevallo series opener begins Friday at 5 p.m. followed by a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m.

Admission to all regular season home games at Charger Park is free again this season, courtesy of Alabama Credit Union.

The Chargers enter the week 18-9 overall and 6-6 in GSC play, following one win and two losses on the road last weekend at Valdosta State. UAH is currently tied for sixth in the league standings.
 
Sophomore Alexa Douthitt has continued to display her power with a team-high .807 slugging percentage that is buoyed by a roster-best eight home runs. The Madison, Alabama, native also paces UAH with a .434 batting average, which rates in the top 15 in the league.
 
Lawren Hayes is also amongst the GSC's batting average leaders, as she is tied for the team lead with Dahouthitt at a .434 batting average.
 
The Chargers pitching staff owns a team 3.47 ERA, as each of UAH's top three hurlers owns ERAs of 3.40 or lower this season. Katie Bracken has seen the most action with 69.0 innings and 79 strikeouts to go with a 3.35 ERA.
 
Miles comes into the nonconference meeting at an overall record of 5-15 and 2-8 within the SIAC, after most recently falling to Albany State last Thursday. The Golden Bears average 4.35 runs per game, while MC's pitching staff has a 5.51 team ERA.
 
Montevallo starts out the week's slate at 16-10 overall and 9-3 in GSC play, following a series loss at No. 8 Mississippi College last weekend. The Falcons average 6.42 runs per game this season, while the UM pitching staff owns a 4.05 team ERA.
 
UAH holds all-time series records of 30-0 against Miles and 12-6 against Montevallo.
 
After this week's home games, the Chargers look ahead to wrapping up the eight-game homestand with a three-game set next Friday and Saturday against visiting Lee.
