HUNTSVILLE | UAH women's track & field assistant coach Scott Byrd has been named the USTFCCCA Indoor South Region Women's Assistant Coach of the Year for the 2024 indoor campaign.
 
Byrd coached the Chargers' sprinters to a dynamic performance at the 2024 Gulf South Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, as UAH sprinters went 1-3-5-6 in the 60 meters, 1-3-6 in the 200 meters, 1-5 in the 400 meters and won the 4×400 relay.
 
The UAH freshmen stood out for the Chargers at the GSC Indoor Championships, namely Amiah Murry, who won the 400-meter crown. Murry was additionally named GSC Indoor Championships Most Outstanding Freshman, while Jordyn Dortch was the Co-Most Outstanding Track Athlete at the GSC indoor meet.
 
The Chargers look ahead to continuing the 2024 outdoor season at the Mississippi Bulldog Relays this Friday and Saturday.
