Softball Hosts Lee Friday and Saturday at Charger Park

HUNTSVILLE | The UAH softball team continues its homestand at Charger Park with a Gulf South Conference three-game series against Lee, including a single game Friday starting at 5 p.m., followed by a doubleheader Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
Admission to all regular season games at Charger Park is free this season, courtesy of Alabama Credit Union.

The Chargers open the weekend with a 23-9 overall record and a 9-6 mark in GSC play, after most recently sweeping a home GSC series against Montevallo by scores of 4-0, 14-6 and 6-2.

Sophomore pitcher Katie Bracken dominated a 3-0 record last week, boasting a 0.67 ERA over 21.0 innings with 29 strikeouts against Miles and Montevallo. She enters the weekend series ranked tied for fourth in the GSC with a 2.72 ERA and is also fifth in the league with 90.0 innings this season.

Madison, Alabama, native Alexa Douthitt led the Chargers to a 5-0 record last week, showcasing a remarkable .667 batting average, 1.733 slugging percentage, and .722 on-base percentage. Douthitt boasts a team-high 93 total bases to rank third in the GSC, as she has recorded seven doubles, two triples and a roster-leading 12 home runs.

Overall, UAH ranks third in the GSC with a .346 team batting average with four players batting .390 or higher including Douthitt (.469), Lawren Hayes (.440), Jada Henderson (.415), and Maddie Cartron (.391).

Lee enters the series with a 13-15 overall record that includes an 8-7 mark in GSC play, following a doubleheader split against No. 1 North Georgia in a midweek matchup. The Flames average 7.6 runs per game this season, led by Alexa Scalzo with a .427 batting average, seven doubles and 16 RBI. LU's pitching staff has a team ERA of 7.61.

UAH holds an all-time series record of 23-5 against Lee, with the Chargers winning each of the last five matchups.

After this weekend's series, UAH will travel to Trussville, Alabama, for a midweek doubleheader against Auburn Montgomery on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
