HUNTSVILLE | The UAH baseball team dropped a pair of Gulf South Conference games in a doubleheader against No. 15 Lee on Saturday afternoon, falling 15-8 in game one and losing game two 11-8 in extra innings. The Chargers fell to 16-18 (4-14 GSC), while the Flames improved to 25-9 (14-4 GSC).

The Chargers get back in action on Tuesday when they host Miles for a midweek game for the second time this season. Next weekend, they will travel to Carrollton, Georgia, to take on West Georgia.

G1: Lee 15, UAH 8

The Flames jumped out to an early 7-0 lead in the first inning of the game and set the tone for game one. UAH got on the board in the fourth and fifth innings, but scored six of their eight runs in the final three innings of the game.

Merik Carter led the Chargers at the plate as he extended his hit streak to 21 games in game one, hitting two doubles and a home run while going 3-for-4. Caleb Mahan went 3-for-6 at the plate and Presley Walker went 3-for-5, while Jackson Lindsey hit the only other extra-base hit for UAH.

Will Tarpley got the start on the mound and threw 6.0 innings as he struck out seven Lee batters on the afternoon, giving up no runs after the seven-run first inning.

G2: Lee 11, UAH 8

In game two, the Chargers fell behind by a sizable margin in the fourth inning as Lee took an 8-1 lead into the bottom of the inning. UAH clawed their way back with runs in each of the final four frames to draw the game even at 8-8 by the end of the seventh.

The Flames would ultimately score three in the second extra inning as they scored three runs in the ninth to secure the win.

Mahan continued his hot day at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in the sixth. Will Noles also hit a home run in the seventh inning to aid in the Charger comeback and contributed two RBI on the day.
