Baseball Drops Both Games of Saturday Doubleheader Against Shorter

HUNTSVILLE | The UAH baseball team fell in both games of a doubleheader against Shorter on Saturday, dropping game one 15-5 and falling 9-0 in game two. The Chargers dropped to 19-21 (7-17 GSC) while Shorter improved to 24-15 (13-14 GSC).

The Chargers head to Livingston, Alabama, next week to take on West Alabama in a must-win series for postseason hopes.

G1: SU 15, UAH 5

In game one of Saturday's doubleheader, the Hawks and Chargers each had two-run innings in the first, with Jackson Lindsey hitting a two-RBI single in the bottom half of the inning to draw the teams even. Shorter would lead from the top of the second on, as they tacked on six runs.

Lindsey led the Chargers at the plate with a 3-for-4 appearance with two RBI, while Presley Walker went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Carson Villalta hit a RBI double and Merik Carter hit an RBI triple in the game as well with each of them contributing one hit.

Trey Wright pitched 5.2 innings and gave up no earned runs which is his second straight outing of 5.2 or more innings with no earned runs surrendered.

In game two, UAH fell behind in the second inning 1-0 as the Charger bats went cold in the rubber match of the series. The Hawks would add single runs in the third and fourth innings before compiling six runs in the top of the seventh to seal the game.

At the plate, just two UAH hitters recorded hits, with Lindsey and Ian Reagan each knocking base hits.
