HUNTSVILLE | The UAH softball team wraps up the 2024 regular season at Charger Park on Friday and Saturday with a three-game Gulf South Conference series against visiting Union. First pitch for Friday is set for 5 p.m., followed by a Senior Day doubleheader on Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
Admission to all regular season games at Charger Park is free this season, courtesy of Alabama Credit Union.

The Charger have locked up a berth to the 2024 GSC Softball Championships from May 1-4 at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Alabama, as UAH enters the final weekend of the regular season at 35-13 overall and 20-7 in GSC play. The Blue & White are currently in a three-way tie for second place with Auburn Montgomery and West Alabama, with all three teams also one game behind first place Mississippi College at 21-6.

UAH continues to play well at the plate and in the field, ranking in the top three in the GSC in team batting average (.343), team ERA (3.38) and fielding percentage (.974). The Chargers offense features six lineup regulars batting .320 or higher, led by sophomore
Alexa Douthitt with a .470 batting average to go along with 10 doubles and a roster-best 14 home runs.

Douthitt has additionally recorded a team-best 59 RBI, as she enters the final weekend of the regular season ranked in the top five in the GSC in batting average (.470), hits (70), total bases (126), and on-base percentage (.517).

Senior
Josie Thompson has been the ace of the Chargers pitching staff this season, ranking second in the league with a 2.45 ERA over 103.0 innings with a 13-6 record in the circle. Sophomore
Katie Bracken (3.34 ERA) and
Grace O'Berry (4.44 ERA) also rank in the top 20 in the GSC in earned run average.

Union starts out the weekend series at 27-19 overall and 15-12 in GSC play, which is good for sixth in the GSC standings. The Bulldogs offense is guided by Macey Neal with 12 doubles, 10 homers and 52 RBI, while Lainey Baker's 2.41 ERA over 107.1 innings pitched headlines the UU pitching staff.

UAH holds a 26-6 all-time record against Union, as the Chargers have won seven straight over the Bulldogs dating back to the 2021 season.
