GSC CHAMPIONSHIPS CENTRAL

HUNTSVILLE | The UAH men's and women's track & field teams are set to compete at the 2024 Gulf South Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships from Thursday to Saturday on the campus of Montevallo.

UAH enters the league's outdoor meet ranked third in the South Region on the men's side and fourth on the women's as the Chargers wrapped up the regular season at the Georgia Tech Invitational on April 20.
 
The Chargers men's team is highlighted by three athletes ranked in the top 20 nationally, including Sam Wilhelm in both 5000 meters and 10,000 meters, Wilson McClain in 110-meter hurdles and Michael Gizzi in 200 meters.
 
The Blue & White finished third at the GSC Outdoor Championships last season, boasting Gizzi as the Most Outstanding Track Performer and Tommy Rodriguez as the Most Outstanding Freshman Performer.
 
On the women's side, UAH is guided by Jadlyn Debardlabon in the long jump with a ranking of seventh in NCAA Division II while the Chargers 4x100 meters squad of Krystalynn Oatman, Amiah Murry, Chandler Robinson, and Jordyn Dortch rate 18th nationally.
 
Last season, the Chargers finished second in the GSC Outdoor Championships for the fifth time in program history.
 
The 2024 GSC Outdoor Championships kick off with the decathlon and heptathlon events at 11 a.m. on Thursday.
