BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Gulf South Conference announced its 2024 softball season awards on Thursday, and the UAH softball teams was represented by five All-GSC performers highlighted by
Alexa Douthitt as GSC Co-Player of the Year.

Douthitt was joined as a First Team All-GSC honoree by juniors
Lawren Hayes and
Jada Henderson, while UAH pitchers
Katie Bracken and
Josie Thompson were named Second Team All-GSC. Hayes and Bracken both picked up their second career all-conference honor, with Douthitt, Henderson and Thompson earning the distinction for the first time in their careers.

A native of Madison, Alabama, Douthitt becomes the UAH softball program's ninth GSC Player of the Year after leading the Chargers with a .468 batting average, 12 doubles, 14 homers, 54 runs and 59 RBI. She entered the GSC tournament ranked in the top 10 in the GSC in batting average, runs, hits, RBI, total bases, and on-base percentage.

Hayes – who hails from Decatur, Alabama – has played all 51 games this season as the Chargers second baseman with a .423 batting average with six doubles, seven triples and four RBI. She is second in the GSC with 74 hits, while committing only two errors across 173 fielding chances for a .988 fielding percentage.

Henderson has split her time between three positions across 51 games for the Chargers, registering a team-high 16 doubles to go along with a .438 average, 33 RBI and 22 walks. Her 16 doubles rated fourth in the GSC, while her .532 on-base percentage is second.

Thompson headlined the Chargers pitching staff with a team-best 2.58 ERA over 108.2 innings in the regular season, boasting a 14-6 record in the circle. She entered the GSC tournament third in the conference in ERA and tied for seventh in wins.

Bracken notches her second career All-GSC honor after going 15-4 in the regular season with 16 complete games, as she posted a roster-high 124.1 innings in 2024. Her 3.27 ERA rated ninth in the GSC to start the league tournament.

UAH's five All-GSC honorees are the most by the program since the 2018 season.

The Chargers continue action in the GSC tournament in the winners' bracket at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Alabama, on Thursday with a 6 p.m. matchup against No. 1 seed Mississippi College.
