HUNTSVILLE | UAH men's basketball head coach
Mick Hedgepeth has announced the hiring of Alex Mastin as assistant coach ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.
Â
"We are excited to welcome Alex to UAH," Hedgepeth said. "His work ethic, high character, recruiting connections, and experience in the Gulf South Conference make him a tremendous fit for our staff. He will make our program better right away."
Â
Mastin comes to the Chargers after serving as an assistant at fellow GSC member Montevallo last season, where the Falcons averaged the fourth-best points per game in the league at 79.6 per contest.
Â
A 2013 graduate of Auburn, Mastin has extensive coaching experience throughout the state of Alabama as the JV/varsity assistant coach at Albertville High School in 2022-23 and as the varsity head coach at The Donoho School from 2015-17.
Â
He also has served as the Under Armour RISE Circuit Coach for Pro One in 2022-23, prior to originally starting his coaching career as a manager for Auburn's men's basketball program from 2011-13.
Â
UAH opens the 2024-25 season on Nov. 8 against reigning NCAA Division II South Region Champion Nova Southeastern in Montevallo, Alabama.
