MONTEVALLO, Ala. | The UAH volleyball team won the first match of a three-match weekend at the Gulf South Conference/Peach Belt Conference Crossover hosted by Montevallo as they defeated USC Aiken (6-2) in three sets (25-19, 25-15, 25-22) on Friday afternoon.
The Chargers improved to 7-1 after Friday's match and hold the best record in the GSC.
UAH had their third highest attack percentage of the season against the Pacers, hitting .233 as five different Chargers notched five or more kills.
Autumn Mayes led the Blue & White with 12 kills at a .269 clip, while
Mary Grace Bundrant hit an efficient .545 with seven kills.
Ashleigh Murr had 19 assists to pace the Chargers, while
Savannah Rutledge had 13 assists.
Kayla Ward, the reigning GSC Defensive Player of the Week, paired with Bundrant to make six denials at the net apiece. Ward had two solo blocks to go along with four block assists, while Bundrant tallied four solo blocks and two block assists.
Tatiana Bonilla recorded a team-high 18 digs for the match.
The Chargers are back in action tomorrow as they face off with Lander at noon and Augusta at 4 pm to wrap up the GSC/PBC Crossover.
