FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. | The UAH men's and women's cross country teams competed at the 2024 Chile Pepper Festival on Saturday with the men's squad placing fifth in the team standings and the women's team earning 18th.

In a field of 273 runners,
Sam Wilhelm guided the Chargers to their fifth-place team standing with a fifth-place time of 23:44.4. He was the second-highest placing Division II runner in the race, as his time Saturday ranks second all-time for UAH in an 8k race.

The senior was joined in the top 50 by teammates
Noah George in 25th at 24:40.5,
Nate Pohlsander in 44th at 25:00.6 and
Nathan Knox in 45th at 25:00.6.
Dakota Frank (74th, 25:30.8) and
Conner Patterson (77th, 25:32) also aided the UAH effort with top-80 times at the Chile Pepper Festival.

In the women's 5k, the Chargers were led by
Aylin Vega in 102nd overall at a time of 18:32.2, and she was closely followed by
Lucy Barker in 104th at 18:33.3. UAH generated three more runners in the top 150 of the field, including
Tamsyn Gibbs (118th, 18:44.6),
Ellie Uehlein (147th, 19:20.1) and
Holly Sillivant (149th, 19:27.1).
