Women's Soccer Edged by Montevallo in Soggy Saturday Night Matchup at Charger Park

HUNTSVILLE | The UAH women's soccer team fell to Montevallo by a final score of 2-1 on a soggy Saturday night at Charger Park in Gulf South Conference action. UAH slides to 2-4-1 (1-1-1 GSC), while UM improves to 4-1-1 (3-0-0 GSC).

Katey Ann Klingel scored her first career goal as a Charger to even the contest at 1-1 in the second half at the 49th minute, but Montevallo pulled past UAH with a 54th-minute goal by Rilee Bradbury as the Falcons went on to win 2-1 Saturday.

Mailen Mera notched an assist on Klingel's tally, which gives Mera an assist in back-to-back games for the Chargers.

CeCe Szopa played the full time in goal for the Blue & White, picking up three saves with two goals allowed. This is the first time this season Szopa has allowed more than one goal in a match.

The Chargers' defense was guided by Hannah Szopa and Emily Labus who both played the full 90 minutes as well on Saturday, as the duo aided Szopa in 12 corner kick opportunities by the Falcons.

UAH accrued five shots on goal in the matchup, with five different players posting shots on target.

The Chargers are back in action on the road next weekend with trips to Valdosta State on Friday and Auburn Montgomery on Sunday.
