HUNTSVILLE | The UAH women's soccer team was edged out by a final score of 1-0 as they hosted McKendree to kickoff the 2024 season on Thursday at Charger Park. UAH moves to 0-1-0, while MU improves to 1-0-0.
 
The Chargers defense remained strong, holding the Bearcats to just four shots on goal. The game's lone goal came in the 47^th minute off the foot of MU's Lena Higgins.
 
Both teams had strong defensive fronts, with a combined total of 13 shots in total, including six shots on target by the Chargers led by Jayla Gillespie with four.
 
CeCe Szopa starts off her sophomore campaign strong as she picked up five saves to give her a total of 65 in her collegiate career.
 
The Chargers will be back in action on Saturday, as they are set to host Kentucky Wesleyan at 12 p.m.
