HUNTSVILLE | The No. 6 UAH men's basketball team won their 15th consecutive game in a 85-67 win on Sunday evening against Gulf South Conference opponent Auburn Montgomery at Kelly Court in Spragins Hall. The Chargers improved to 15-1 (10-0 GSC) with the win, while the Warhawks dropped to 7-7 (4-5 GSC).
Daniel Saylor had a milestone evening, rejecting seven Warhawk shots and tying the UAH single-game record for blocks. The senior sits in fourth place all-time in career blocks at UAH with 124 total.
The Chargers stifled the AUM offense as they held the Warhawks to a 34.7 percent field goal percentage from the field, their third-lowest percentage of the season. UAH totaled a season-high nine blocks, with
Auston Leslie contributing two in addition to Saylor's seven.
Blake Campbell headlined the Charger offense as he scored 24 points as he knocked down 13-of-17 shots from the free throw line.
Matt Thurman added 18 points on 8-for-13 shooting from the field.
Tommy Murr had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds, falling just short of a triple-double with nine assists.
Luke Burnett netted three shots behind the arc, putting him just one behind the GSC career record for made three pointers with 403 in his career.
The Chargers dominated the paint against AUM as they outscored the Warhawks 46-to-24 in points in the paint. UAH also had an 18-to-2 advantage in fastbreak points on Sunday evening.
The Blue & White will play the final game of their three-game homestand against West Alabama on Saturday at 4 p.m., as UAH will celebrate Military Appreciation Day, presented by AUSA and Radiance Technologies, for the GSC doubleheader at Spragins Hall.
