Women's Basketball Soars Past Warhawks in Dominant Sunday Victory at Home

HUNTSVILLE | The UAH women's basketball won its 10th consecutive home game at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall with an 89-49 victory over Auburn Montgomery on Sunday afternoon. UAH improves to 13-3 (8-2 GSC), while AUM slides to 5-9 (3-6 GSC).
 
Freshman Mia Hollingsworth led the Chargers offense in the win with a team-high 20 points, as she went 6-for-9 from the field, 4-for-6 on three-pointers and a perfect 4-for-4 on free throws. She also added five rebounds and one steal across 25 minutes on the floor.
 
The Chargers opened up the first half with a tremendous shooting display, sinking nine three-pointers over the first and second quarter that allowed UAH to carry a 46-24 advantage into the break.
 
UAH never lost its lead after the 2:56 mark of the opening period, as the Chargers went on to win 89-49 over the Warhawks on Sunday.
 
Overall, head coach Allen Sharpe's squad featured six players with 10 points or more on Saturday including Millie Brown (17 points), Alexis Woods (13 points), Bellah Machen (12 points), Lili Wilken (11 points) and Ivey Maddox (10 points) in addition to Hollingsworth's team-best 20 points.
 
Machen additionally led the Chargers on the boards with eight rebounds, while Wilken had a strong all-around performance with seven rebounds, seven assists and four steals as well as her 11 points.
 
Bella White posted a team-high eight assists against AUM, as 24 of UAH's 28 made baskets were assisted on Saturday. The Chargers shot 48.3 percent (28-58) from the field and 55.6 percent (15-27) on three-pointers, while limiting the Warhawks to 40.8 percent (20-49) on field goals.
 
UAH also held the edge over AUM in rebounds (40-27), bench points (46-27), fast break points (9-4), points off turnovers (28-8), and points in the paint (20-18).
 
The Chargers look ahead to their final game of the homestand next Saturday at 2 p.m. against West Alabama, as UAH will celebrate Military Appreciation Day, presented by AUSA and Radiance Technologies, for the GSC doubleheader at Spragins Hall.
