PENSACOLA, Fla. | The No. 4 UAH men's basketball team rolled to their 17th consecutive victory on Saturday afternoon in a 78-71 win over Gulf South Conference opponent West Florida at the UWF Fieldhouse in Pensacola, Florida. The Chargers improved to 17-1 (12-0 GSC) with the win, while the Argos dropped to 5-13 (4-8 GSC).
Daniel Saylor led the way for UAH in the scoring column as the senior put up 21 points on 10-of-12 from the field. Saylor tied his season-high in rebounds on Saturday with 16 total boards, along with a pair of blocks.
The Chargers held the Argos to 36.5 percent shooting as UWF was just 27-for-74 from the field. UAH holds the best opponent field goal percentage in the league as they have held opposing teams to 40.9 percent shooting overall.
Tommy Murr scored 17 points on Saturday and totaled six assists. The Athens, Alabama, native has scored in double-digits for 26 straight games and has totaled five or more assists in his last nine games.
Blake Campbell,
Matt Thurman, and
Luke Burnett additionally scored in double-digits against the Argos, with Thurman knocking down 3-of-5 three pointers for 11 total points. Campbell went 7-for-7 from the free throw line with 14 points and totaled five boards.
The Chargers outpaced West Florida in rebounding 42-to-35 and outscored the Argos 38-to-32 inside the paint.
UAH is set for a matchup against No. 11 Valdosta State on Monday evening at 4:30 p.m. in a game that was postponed due to weather conditions in Valdosta, Georgia.
