HUNTSVILLE | The UAH volleyball team hosted a Gulf South Conference opponent and No. 16 West Florida on Friday evening at SportsMED Arena in Spragins Hall and defeated the Argos for the first time since September 11, 2018 in a 3-1 (16-25 | 25-23 | 26-24 | 29-27) victory.
The Charger win snaps an 11 match losing streak against West Florida and was also the first ranked win for UAH volleyball since beating No. 12 Barry on September 9, 2023.
Offensively, the Chargers had three players with double-digit kills as
Zoe Smith posted a team-high 14 kills, while
Carlee Lowry had 13 and
Caroline Moyer posted 12 kills. Lowry led the trio in attack percentage at .275.
Kelsey Gasaway had two service aces, while Smith also added a pair of aces.
Cooper Garrett had 20 assists to lead UAH in the category and
Anna Clare Hutto added 19 assists.
The Blue & White were active on defense with four players in double-digits in digs, as Smith led the way with 19 digs. Hutto posted 16 digs,
Sydney Durban added 15 digs, and Lowry tallied 11 digs.
Mary Grace Bundrant and
Kayla Ward each totaled one block in the match.
Next up for UAH is a home GSC matchup with Valdosta State on Saturday at 2 p.m. for Senior Day in Spragins Hall.
