HUNTSVILLE | The UAH softball team is set to open its home schedule with the beginning of Gulf South Conference play this Friday and Saturday at Charger Park against Christian Brothers. Friday's doubleheader is set to begin at 1 p.m., followed by a single game Saturday at noon.

The Chargers come into the home-opening series with an overall record of 6-5, after most recently sweeping a doubleheader at Florida Southern on Saturday.

UAH's offense this season so far has been led by
Maddie Cartron with a team-high 22 total bases from a roster-leading four doubles and two home runs. She is also second on the squad with a .375 batting average.

Sydney Harris and
Brittany Slaten have enjoyed strong starts to the season, as Harris leads UAH with a .400 batting average while Slaten is batting .345 with a team-high 10 runs scored.
Jada Henderson has additionally performed well, boasting a team-best four doubles and 10 RBI.

Katie Bracken leads all UAH pitchers with a 2.94 ERA over a team-high 31.0 innings pitched. Bracken has additionally registered a GSC-best 45 strikeouts so far this season.

Christian Brothers comes into the weekend series at Charger Park with a 6-3 overall record, following a pair of losses on Sunday to Lincoln Memorial and Young Harris. The Buccaneers offense is led by Summer Alexander with three doubles, two homers and 10 RBI, while the CBU pitching staff has combined for a 2.57 team ERA.

UAH holds an all-time series record of 45-2 against Christian Brothers, with the Chargers winning 36 straight over the Bucs dating back to 2012.

After this weekend's games, UAH looks ahead to playing in the Rocket City Softball Showcase on Wednesday at 4 p.m. against nationally-ranked North Georgia.
