HUNTSVILLE | The UAH baseball team routed Christian Brothers by a final score of 21-2 at Charger Park to open Gulf South Conference play with a series win. UAH improves to 7-4 (2-1 GSC), while CBU slides to 5-5 (1-2 GSC).

The Chargers amassed rallies or three runs or more in the first five innings to cruise past the Buccaneers with a 21-2 win, as UAH produced 16 base hits as a team including seven for extra bases.

Overall, five UAH players had two hits or more in the victory as well as five players recording two RBI or more against CBU.

JC Wilburn finished the contest 2-for-4 with three runs and a team-best four RBI, as his day was highlighted by a two-run homer in the bottom of the second.

Braxton Griffin and
Presley Walker had two-hit, three RBI performances, while
Sean Lapinskes had a team-high three base hits and four runs scored to go along with one RBI. One of Lapinskes three hits went for a triple, with Walker recording two of his three RBI on a two-run homer in the fifth.

Ty Hutto started on the mound for the Chargers, turning in 5.0 innings with two runs allowed, one walk and nine strikeouts. He improves to 1-1 with the win.

Payton Lemons recorded scoreless outings out of the bullpen to finish off Hutto's victory.

UAH is back in action next Friday and Saturday in Cleveland, Tennessee, for a three-game series against Lee.
