Baseball Drops Series Opener at Lee Friday

CLEVELAND, Tenn. | The UAH baseball team dropped its Gulf South Conference series opener at Lee by a final score of 15-5 on Friday afternoon. UAH slides to 7-5 (2-2 GSC), while LU rises to 7-5 (1-3 GSC).

UAH started off with a 2-0 lead thanks to a two-RBI triple by JC Wilburn in the top of the first, and the Chargers would hold the lead until a three-run bottom of the second by the Flames. The hosts did not relinquish their lead after the second inning in a 15-5 Lee victory.

Wilburn highlighted the Chargers offense with a 3-for-3 performance – including his two-RBI triple – with a team-high three RBI. He has now recorded two or more hits in back-to-back games for the first time this season.

Jackson Lindsey also drove in one run and scored one as well, while going 1-for-3 with a walk. Preston Walker and Sean Lapinskes both added one run and one hit apiece on Friday also.

Will Tarpley started on the mound for the Chargers, turning in 3.1 innings with seven earned runs allowed. His record slides to 2-1 with the loss.

UAH and Lee wrap up the three-game set on Saturday with a doubleheader commencing at noon CT.
