CLEVELAND, Tenn. | The UAH baseball team fell in both games of a Saturday doubleheader against Gulf South Conference opponent Lee as they dropped game one 5-0 and 13-3 in game two.
The Chargers are now 6-7 (2-4 GSC), while the Flames improved 9-5 (3-3 GSC) after Friday's games.
UAH resumes GSC play next weekend as they host a three-game series against Valdosta State at Charger Park beginning at noon on Friday.
G1: Lee 5, UAH 0
In game one, the Chargers fell behind 1-0 in the first inning, before starting pitcher
Colin Patterson settled in and held the Flames in check till the sixth inning when they added a pair of runs to end the sophomore's outing on the mound.
Overall, Patterson went 5.1 innings on the hill as he struck out five and allowed just two earned runs.
At the plate, freshman
Braxton Griffin led the way for UAH with a 2-for-3 performance, while
Sean Lapinskes added the other hit for the Chargers.
UAH ultimately was not able to get any runs across the plate in the 5-0 loss.
G2: Lee 13, UAH 3
Game two saw the Chargers garner three hits again, but they were able to push across three runs in the final game of the series.
Connor Wilson led the way for UAH with a pinch hit two-run homer in the seventh inning to drive in
Brandon Gillispie who doubled in the prior at-bat in a pinch hitting appearance of his own.
Lapinskes represented the third hit of the game again with a 1-for-2 performance at the plate.
On the mound,
Ty Hutto got the start as the senior threw 2.2 innings of work, while
Tyler Zeligman made the most effective relief appearance in one inning with a pair of strikeouts and no earned runs.
