HUNTSVILLE | The UAH baseball team dropped a Friday Gulf South Conference matchup against Valdosta State 13-2 in eight innings.
The Chargers are now 7-8 (2-5 GSC), while the Blazers improved 6-9 (5-1 GSC) after Friday's games.
At the end of the first inning, UAH had a one run lead as a result of a
Brock Butler RBI single. The Blazers scored a run in the second before the Chargers retook a one run lead at 2-1 behind a RBI single from
Sean Lapinskes.
The rest of the game went the Blazers way as they scored 12 unanswered runs as they held UAH in check at the plate.
Lapinskes led the way with a 2-for-4 day at the plate, while
Presley Walker,
Brandon Gillispie,
Brock Butler, and
Hugh Windle each tallied a hit apiece.
On the mound,
Will Tarpley got the start and pitched three innings with four strikeouts.
Payton Lemons and
Cole Loftis each pitched two innings in relief, while
Jaxon Hay pitched the final inning of the game for UAH as he struck out three batters.
The Chargers and Blazers resume their series tomorrow at 11:30 am at Charger Park in a doubleheader.
