HUNTSVILLE | The UAH softball team returns to Charger Park for a three-game Gulf South Conference series against visiting Valdosta State on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's doubleheader starts at 1 p.m., followed by the series finale Sunday at noon.
 
Admission to all UAH softball regular season home games is free this season, courtesy of Alabama Credit Union.

UAH starts out the weekend with a 10-8 overall record and a 4-2 mark in GSC games, following a series loss at Lee this past weekend.
 
Junior Katie Bracken recently eclipsed 400 strikeouts in her career as she enters the weekend with 419 strikeouts over 360.1 innings pitches. She is only the sixth UAH pitcher to achieve the feat.
 
This season, Bracken leads the UAH pitching staff in innings pitched (57.2), ERA (2.79) and strikeouts (75).
 
Maddie Cartron continues to be the most productive batter in the Chargers lineup this season, as she boasts a team-high .434 batting average and .830 slugging percentage through 18 games played. She leads UAH with five home runs and 44 total bases, while rating second on the squad with six doubles and 11 RBI.
 
Valdosta State enters the GSC weekend series with a 6-10 overall record and a 2-3 record in GSC play, after dropping 2-of-3 at home to Trevecca Nazarene last weekend. The Blazers offense features three players with batting averages of .360 or higher led by Aniston Gano at a .440 average, while the VSU pitching staff owns a 5.23 team ERA.
 
UAH holds an all-time series record of 78-55 against Valdosta State, with the Chargers winning five out of the last seven matchups dating back to 2023.
 
After this weekend's series, the Chargers hit the road next Friday and Saturday with a short trip down I-65 to take on Montevallo in a three-game set.
