Baseball Sweeps Friday Doubleheader in Home Opening Series Against UMSL, Saturday Doubleheader Moved to Noon Start

HUNTSVILLE | The UAH baseball team swept a Friday doubleheader in their first home series of the season as they took down Missouri-St. Louis 6-5 in game one and 10-4 in game two. 

The Chargers are now 3-3, while the Tritons dropped to 3-2 after Friday's games.

UAH and UMSL will face off again in a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at noon.

G1: UAH 6, UMSL 5

In game one, six different UAH batters recorded hits, while four recorded extra-base hits in the victory. The game was won on a bunt off the bat of CJ Carson that resulted in a throwing error by the UMSL pitcher that moved Ian Reagan from first to score in walk off fashion. 

Presley Walker and Reagan led the Chargers as each recorded two hits apiece, including a triple from Walker and a double from Reagan. 

Jackson Lindsey, Will Noles, and JC Wilburn each recorded RBI in the victory. 

Ty Hutto got the start on the mound for UAH and went four innings, giving up four earned runs. Jacob Peters came on for two innings of relief pitching and gave up just one hit and no earned runs.

G2: UAH 10, UMSL 4 

UAH erupted for eight runs in the first inning of game two and never relinquished the lead against the Tritons. Seven different Chargers had RBI in the first inning. 

Sean Lapinskes led the Blue & White in hits as the freshman recorded three hits in the win, while Walker once again had two hits. Reagan had the only extra-base hit in game two as he knocked a double. 

Will Tarpley got the win in his second start of the season as he pitched five innings and gave up just one earned run and struck out five UMSL batters. Payton Lemons and Jaxon Hay additionally made relief appearances as they each pitched an inning and gave up no earned runs.
