HUNTSVILLE | The UAH baseball team swept a Saturday doubleheader to complete a four-game sweep against Missouri-St. Louis with a 9-5 game one win and a 7-4 game two victory.
The Chargers are now 5-3, while the Tritons dropped to 3-4 after Saturday's games.
UAH will be back in action as they travel to Montgomery, Alabama on Tuesday at 3 pm.
G1: UAH 9, UMSL 5
In game one, four UAH batters recorded two or more hits, with
Presley Walker leading the way with a 4-for-5 showing at the plate with a solo homer and RBI double. Walker had two doubles in game one.Â
Will Noles contributed a pair of hits and three RBI as he went 2-for-3, while freshmen
Braxton Griffin and
Sean Lapinskes each tallied two hits each, with Griffin adding one RBI.
Jackson Lindsey additionally drove in a run in the win.
Colin Patterson got the start for the Chargers in game one and pitched 4.2 innings as he struck out nine UMSL batters.
Hunter MacLeod recorded the win as he came on in relief and pitched 2.1 innings with no earned runs surrendered.Â
G2: UAH 7, UMSL 4Â
Game two saw the Chargers put up seven runs as they recorded four hits in the game, using opportunistic baserunning to gain the edge over the Tritons.Â
Ian Reagan led UAH at the plate as he went 2-for-3 with one RBI, while Noles went 1-for-3 with a pair of RBI. Walker went 1-for-2 to round out the Chargers' hits at the plate.Â
Brandon Gillispie and Walker added stolen bases to aid the Charger win.Â
Nick Compton started on the hill for the Chargers and struck out five batters to bring the UAH starters' strikeout total to 14 on the day.
Cole Loftis got the win as he pitched two innings in relief and struck out four as he gave up just one earned run.
