Baseball Falls in Friday Doubleheader at Toyota Field, Saturday Game Moved to Sunday at Charger Park

MADISON, Ala. | The UAH baseball team dropped a pair of Gulf South Conference games on Friday afternoon as they fell 7-1 and 7-6 against West Florida at Toyota Field.

The Chargers fell to 10-13 (4-10 GSC), while the Argos improved to 15-8 (11-3 GSC) after Friday's doubleheader.

The third game of the series originally scheduled for Saturday afternoon at Toyota Field will now be played at Charger Park on Sunday at 1 p.m.

G1: UWF 7, UAH 1

In game one, the Chargers were led at the plate by JC Wilburn who tallied two hits, but UAH was unable to notch any extra-base hits in the game.

Braxton Griffin, Will Noles, Jackson Lindsey, and Ian Reagan each had one hit apiece.

On the mound, Hunter MacLeod got the start, while Cole Loftis had the most effective outing from the bullpen as he pitched 4.2 innings with seven strikeouts and just one earned run and two hits surrendered.

G2: UWF 7, UAH 6

The second game saw the Argos jump out to an early 3-0 lead which they held for much of the game and extended to a 6-0 lead before the Chargers got on the board. UAH outscored UWF 6-to-1 in the final two innings of the game, but ultimately came up short of the comeback.

Griffin hit his third home run of the season and second home run in three games as he went 2-for-4 in the second game with two RBI. Lindsey led the way in RBI with three as he sent a two-run homer down the left field line in the sixth and had an RBI single in the seventh.

Colin Patterson pitched 5.0 innings as the starter in the second game, while Nick Compton and Jaxon Hay each pitched an inning in relief. Patterson struck out four in his start on the hill.
