HUNTSVILLE | The UAH baseball team won the first game of a three-game Gulf South Conference series against Auburn Montgomery on Friday evening with a 18-8 run-rule victory.
The Chargers improved to 13-13 (6-10 GSC) on the year, while AUM dropped to 7-21 (4-12 GSC) for the season.
UAH scored runs in six of the eight innings played in the game, with five-run innings in both the third and seventh innings.
Brock Butler led the UAH offense with five RBI in a 4-for-5 performance at the plate as he had two singles, a double, and a home run in the victory.
JC Wilburn totaled four RBI in the win and went 3-for-3 with a double.
Jackson Lindsey also homered for the Chargers and had two RBI in the win.
Presley Walker,
Sean Lapinskes, and Lindsey all had multi-hit games.
On the mound,
Cole Loftis was awarded the win with one inning pitched in relief.
Payton Lemons and
Ty Hutto combined to give up no runs in the final three innings of the game.
The Chargers and Warhawks will play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at noon at Charger Park.
