CLEVELAND, Miss. | The UAH baseball team dropped both games of a Friday doubleheader against Delta State on the road in Gulf South Conference action. The Statesmen took game one 10-8 in 10 innings and claimed a 12-7 victory in game two.
The Chargers dropped to 14-17 (7-13 GSC) on the year, while the Statesmen improved to 24-8 (17-3 GSC) on the season.
UAH and DSU get back in action for the final game of the series tomorrow at 1 p.m.
G1: DSU 10, UAH 8 (10 inn.)
In game one, the Statesmen jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the fourth inning of the first game of the series before UAH got on the board in the top of the fifth with three runs. The Chargers grabbed the lead in the top of the seventh at 7-6 before three more lead changes would occur over the final three innings.Â
DSU eventually won the game in the 10th inning with a two-run walk-off home run.Â
Sean Lapinskes posted a team-leading three RBI in the game and a triple, while
Brock Butler had a home run.
G2: DSU 12, UAH 7
In the second game, UAH had a 7-0 lead into the bottom of the fourth inning, but ultimately could not hold onto the lead as DSU would score 12 unanswered runs to seal the game away.
At the plate Butler continued his power hitting with two more home runs and five RBI, while
Will Noles also launched a solo home run.
Jackson Lindsey accounted for the other UAH RBI.Â
