Baseball Powers Way to Series-Clinching Win at Montevallo Saturday

MONTEVALLO, Ala. | The UAH baseball team powered its way to a Gulf South Conference series win with a 24-5 victory at Montevallo in the series finale on Saturday. UAH rises to 9-11 (4-8 GSC), while UM dips to 12-10 (6-6 GSC).
 
UAH's 24 runs on Saturday are the most by any team in the GSC so far this season.
 
The Chargers offense featured three rallies of three runs or more in the victory, including seven runs in the first, three runs in the third and 11 runs in the fourth on the way to the 24-5 drubbing of the Falcons.
 
UAH accounted for 23 base hits as a team, which included seven extra-base hits. JC Wilburn highlighted the Chargers with two homers in the contest, with Brock Butler and Will Noles both notching one round-tripper in the win.
 
Seven Chargers had multi-hit performances against the Falcons, guided by Presley Walker who went 4-for-6 with four runs and four RBI.
 
Butler finished with a team-high five RBI in a 3-for-5 day at the plate, as he also scored two runs in the matchup.
 
Both Wilburn and Noles ended the contest with three base hits and three RBI, with Noles also drawing a team-high three walks.
 
Jacob Peters started on the mound for the Chargers, turning in 2.2 innings with four runs allowed and two strikeouts for a no-decision.
 
Nick Compton, Ty Hutto and Cory Hagood combined to allow one run over the ensuing 4.1 innings after Peters gave way to the bullpen. Hutto earned the win, tossing 2.0 scoreless innings with three strikeouts to improve to 2-3 on the year.
 
UAH is back in action on Tuesday against visiting Miles at Charger Park. First pitch slated for 12 p.m.
