HUNTSVILLE | The UAH baseball team won a midweek matchup against No. 16 Carson-Newman on Tuesday evening at Charger Park coming back from a three-run deficit in the eighth inning to win 8-6.
The Chargers improved to 15-18 on the year, while the Eagles dropped to 26-9 for the season.
Carson-Newman took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a two-run home run and were previously 19-0 in games in which they scored the first run of the game. The Chargers tied up the game in the bottom of the third on a two-run homer from
Brock Butler.Â
Butler would go on to homer again in the fifth inning and has five home runs in the past four games. The Eagles went ahead 6-3 in the sixth inning and both teams were scoreless until a five-run explosion by the Chargers in the eighth that put them ahead.Â
Will Noles hit a two-RBI single that proved to be the winning hit in the bottom of the eighth as he put together a 2-for-5 performance. Butler led the way with a 3-for-5 day with his two home runs and a double.
Nine Chargers made appearances on the mound as the bullpen was active in the midweek.
Jaxon Hay earned the win after he pitched one inning while
Cory Hagood secured his fourth save of the season giving up no hits in an inning of relief.Â
UAH gets back in action tomorrow in another midweek game against Miles in Birmingham at noon.
