HUNTSVILLE | The UAH baseball team split a Gulf South Conference doubleheader on Friday afternoon at rainy Charger Park as they dropped game one 6-5 and won the second game 3-2.
The Chargers are now 19-21 (9-17 GSC) on the year, while the Choctaws moved to 25-16 (16-9 GSC) for the season.Â
UAH and MC will face off in the final game of the series tomorrow at noon at Charger Park.
G1: MC 6, UAH 5
In the first game of the series, MC took a 2-0 lead in the first inning that was then extended to a 6-1 lead after the third. UAH fired back in the fifth inning as
Presley Walker hit a three run home run.Â
At the plate,
Braxton Griffin and
Will Noles each had doubles, with Walker's home run rounding out the extra-base hits for the UAH. Charger outfielders accounted for all UAH RBI in the game, with three from Walker and one from Griffin.Â
On the mound,
Colin Patterson got the start as he struck out four, but was replaced by
Jacob Peters who went on to pitch 6.2 innings, giving up just two hits and no runs as he struck out three Choctaw batters.Â

UAH won game two with a complete game from starting pitcher
Cory Hagood as the senior allowed just two earned runs in the seven inning game with two strikeouts and five hits.
The Blue & White took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but the Choctaws would score a run in both the second and third innings to tie the game. UAH took the lead for good in the fifth inning with a RBI single from Noles to seal the game.Â
At the plate, the Chargers got RBI from Noles,
JC Wilburn, and
Jackson Lindsey.
Hugh Windle and Griffin each had doubles to account for UAH's multi-base hits in the game.Â
