Baseball Drops Series Finale Against Mississippi College

HUNTSVILLE | The UAH baseball dropped the final game of a Gulf South Conference series against Mississippi College on Saturday afternoon at Charger Park by a score of 9-6.

The Chargers fell to 19-22 (9-18 GSC) on the year, while the Choctaws improved to 26-16 (17-10 GSC) for the season.

UAH took the lead after one inning as Brock Butler hit his 16th home run of the season on a solo shot to left field, but the Charger bats went cold following the first inning. The Blue & White went on to score five runs in the bottom of the seventh in a comeback bid that fell short.

Sean Lapinskes, Will Noles, Braxton Griffin, and JC Wilburn accounted for a single apiece in addition to Butler's home run to contribute to the Charger offense.

On the mound, Nick Compton got the start and threw 1.2 innings as Cole Loftis threw 4.1 innings in relief and struck out five. Ty Hutto pitched the final three innings of the game as he surrendered zero hits and zero runs while he struck out four batters.

UAH is set for a road matchup in the midweek on Tuesday at 4 p.m. against Young Harris.
