HUNTSVILLE | The UAH baseball team won the third game of a Gulf South Conference three-game series on Saturday at Charger Park against Union in a 21-15 victory over the Bulldogs.
The Chargers improved to 17-20 (8-16) on the year, while Union fell to 16-21 (10-14) for the season. The win for UAH came after a doubleheader loss on Friday.
UAH struck first in all three games of the series, with Saturday being the biggest lead of all as the Chargers jumped out 6-0 in the first two innings. Union answered in the bottom of the third inning with nine runs to take the lead before the Chargers reclaimed it in the fifth inning.
The Blue & White scored in all but one inning in Saturday's game as they notched multiple runs in five of nine innings.
A gusty day at Charger Park allowed the Chargers to hit six home runs on the day, with
Jackson Lindsey going yard twice with a two-run homer in the fourth inning and a grand slam in the top of the eighth.
The GSC's leader in home runs,
Brock Butler, hit another one over the fence in a 2-for-2 performance with four drawn walks and a hit-by-pitch in the game.
JC Wilburn,
Presley Walker, and
Braxton Griffin each homered in the game as well.
Nick Compton got the start on the hill and struck out three before
Ty Hutto came on in relief and threw six innings out of the bullpen to secure the victory.
The Chargers will play at home again on Tuesday at Charger Park at 3 p.m. against UT Southern.
