HUNTSVILLE | The UAH baseball team won a midweek game 11-8 against UT Southern on Tuesday evening at Charger Park.
The Chargers improved to 18-20 on the year, while the Firehawks fell to 14-25 for the season. The win marks the second straight for UAH, and their third consecutive midweek victory.Â
UAH claimed the first lead of the game in the second inning as they went up 1-0 before UT Southern scored two in the top of the third and eventually held a 5-3 lead after five innings of play.Â
The Chargers were propelled to the win by an eight-run inning in the seventh to go up 11-5. The Firehawks scored three more runs in the eighth before
Cole Loftis earned his first career save in the ninth inning as he shut the door on the UT Southern comeback bid.Â
Five UAH batters had multi-hit games, with reigning GSC Player of the Week and South Region Player of the Week
Brock Butler going 3-for-5 at the plate with a double.
Brodee Bartlett additionally had a 3-for-5 day with three RBI.
Presley Walker chipped in with a home run for UAH with two RBI and a 2-for-4 performance at the plate.Â
Hunter MacLeod earned the win as a relief pitcher in Tuesday's game and improved to 2-3 on the year after a two inning outing on the mound where he allowed zero runs. Loftis gained his first save of the year and of his career as he came on in the ninth and recorded three strikeouts. Â
UAH will play host to Mississippi College in a Gulf South Conference series at Charger Park beginning at noon in a doubleheader on Friday.Â
